Percutaneous valve replacement: a novel low-profile polyurethane valved stent.
Fig. 1. (a) Oblique view from top of a self-expanding nitinol stent (length 28 mm, diameter 24 mm, Nitinol Devices & Components Inc., Fremont, CA, USA) containing a three leaflet polyurethane valve. Leaflets have a thickness of approximately 100—150 mm. The stent valves are produced in a dip coating technique (by Mecora GmbH, Aachen, Germany). (b) Low-profile polyurethane valved stent was folde...
متن کاملPercutaneous aortic valve replacement: computed tomography scan after valved stent implantation in human cadaver hearts.
Computed tomography scans were performed before and after aortic valve resection with consecutive implantation of a valved stent in human hearts with highly calcified aortic valves in situ (n=2). This demonstrates that the valved stent shows better fitting in the annulus after removal of the native valve.
متن کاملPercutaneous pulmonary valve replacement: autologous tissue-engineered valved stents.
AIMS Percutaneous implantation has already been used clinically and is a great option for treating young patients. The use of autologous tissue-engineered valved stents might solve the problem of degeneration and limited durability of biological heart valves. METHODS AND RESULTS Porcine pulmonary heart valves and small intestinal submucosa were obtained from a slaughterhouse. The intestinal s...
متن کاملTranscatheter Mitral Valve Replacement With a Novel Dual Stent Bioprosthesis.
There has been great interest in transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) as a potential therapy for high-risk patients with severe mitral regurgitation, with several distinct device systems undergoing first-in-man clinical studies. The Intrepid TMVR (Medtronic Inc, Redwood City, CA), designed for transapical delivery, comprises 2 interconnected self-expanding nitinol stents: (1) an inner ...
متن کاملPercutaneous aortic valve replacement.
Aortic valve replacement can produce dramatic benefit in the setting of aortic stenosis. The potential for morbidity and mortality associated with thoracotomy, cardiopulmonary bypass, and aortotomy has fostered a search for alternatives. Early experience with transcatheter endovascular aortic valve implantation demonstrated feasibility and durability, but the procedure was difficult to reproduc...
